This is what's happening:
The veil has lifted. You're seeing through illusions you used to believe were real. The stories society told you about success, happiness, meaning, and reality itself are dissolving.
Your ego is dying. The identity you built your life around—your roles, achievements, beliefs, self-concept—is falling apart. This is terrifying because you don't yet know who you are without these structures.
You're feeling everything. Emotions you've suppressed for years (or lifetimes) are surfacing. Grief, rage, terror, despair—it's all coming up to be felt and released.
You're seeing collapse. Climate breakdown, societal collapse, systemic injustice—you can see it all clearly now. And you can't unsee it. This awareness is overwhelming.
